O’Pub, meet Sorriso: new restaurant opening Uptown

For the past eight years, O’Pub has gained the reputation as the adult bar of Oxford, where students play cards in booths and clutch higher-scale drinks while listening to live, usually acoustic, music. The atmosphere is more relaxed than several of its late night competitors. But, there’s always been one component missing in O’Pub: its own kitchen.  That’s the dilemma Ted Wood, owner of O’Pub, The Wood’s, Sidebar, Corner and Left Field Tavern, seeks to solve with his latest property acquisition Uptown — a new restaurant called Sorriso Osteria.

Miami considers tearing down Williams Hall

Miami University is considering tearing down Williams Hall in a plan to rearrange the campus by major.  The idea, presented at the Feb. 12 faculty assembly, involves separating the campus into “corridors,” which would place similar disciplines together.

Fighters Guild provides community for gamers

Walking around Miami University’s campus on Saturday night, most buildings are closed. But Benton Hall remains well-lit and open. Visitors that walk inside the building from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. will be greeted with chatter coming from room 100 just to the left of the entrance. 


Previewing ‘Pokémon Sword and Shield’ from longtime fans

"Pokémon Sword and Shield" are the latest upcoming installments in publisher Nintendo’s and developer Game Freak’s long-running “Pokémon” series. They will be the first main series entries on a home console, the Nintendo Switch. The games will take place in the Galar Region, a United Kingdom-inspired environment.  These games will mark the eighth generation of new Pokémon, some of which were revealed before the games’ release. These include Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble, the new starter Pokémon players can receive at the start of the games.

OPD raises money for those battling breast cancer

Dealing with the effects of cancer is a personal issue for Oxford Police Department (OPD) Lieutenant Lara Fening. When she was a year old, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Growing up, she saw the effects of a mastectomy and worried about the cancer returning.
