The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced on Sunday that the Ohio University at Miami University football game, originally scheduled to be played Tuesday, has been canceled and will be declared a “no contest.” The RedHawks’ next scheduled game is Nov. 28 at Akron.
The Miami women's basketball team will add an influx of new talent this year, including five freshman and two transfers. The RedHawks will have to find ways to win this season despite losing its two best players, point guard Lauren Dickerson and center Savannah Kluesner. The team will open the season on the road against the Wisconsin Badgers on Nov. 25.
The Miami RedHawks lost, 42-10, to the Buffalo Bulls. Miami falls to 1-1 with the loss. The RedHawks return to Oxford this Tuesday, Nov. 17, to host MAC East division rival Ohio University at 8pm.
A ridiculous interception by redshirt senior linebacker Ryan McWood set the RedHawks up with first and goal with mere seconds left on the clock, and redshirt senior running back Zach Kahn punched it in for the game-winning score, finalizing a 38-31 Miami victory over Ball State in Week 1. Now, the RedHawks look to improve their record to 2-0 against the Buffalo Bulls in what looks like a tricky matchup for the RedHawks.
After Brett Gabbert's injury, backup quarterback AJ Mayer commanded the RedHawks' offense and led them to a season-opening win over Ball State.
Miami head coach Chuck Martin didn't get any sleep last night. But with a 38-31 win over Ball State, despite losing starting quarterback Brett Gabbert, Martin can rest easy.
Miami football will make its grand return to Yager Stadium Wednesday, Nov. 4, against Ball State. The defending MAC Champs start the year in pole position, ranked as the preseason No. 1 team in the MAC East. Since 2015, nearly $47 million has been donated to political campaigns by owners from the NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLB and NASCAR. Where that money goes can tell us more things about our democracy than we have hours in the day. It’s worth asking what kind of politics we do want in our sports.
The puck will drop on a new Miami RedHawks hockey season Dec. 1 or 2 in Omaha, Nebraska, in a bubble-like environment. The team enters the 2020-21 season relatively inexperienced, but ready to improve on its 8-21-5 record from last year.
One club holding the all-time records for the worst offense, the worst defense, and the worst goal differential in league history, and not setting all three together in the same season, is unprecedented in top-division soccer. FC Cincinnati would be the first, and only, team to achieve this feat. It’s only fitting for a club coming from this city, one where the sporting tradition is one of pain and suffering. And I cannot wait for next season.
MACtion is back, as Miami looks to defend its conference championship. Chuck Martin's goal? "Win every MAC game. Like, that is the goal."
The Mid-American Conference men's and women's Cross Country Championships will be held on, Saturday, Nov. 21. The MAC Athletic Directors approved a plan that includes guidelines and recommendations for how to go about this fall's cross country season amidst COVID-19.
We thought we weren't going to have a season. Instead, Miami football is back and better than ever. And with the RedHawks returning key pieces from last year's conference championship bid, the team has the upside to defend their title again this year.
Every single player and coach for the Miami RedHawks will wear masks on the field this season. “(Wearing a mask) isn’t fun, but it keeps us safe, and it’s gonna help keep me from getting (COVID) if one of my teammates gets it,” redshirt junior safety Sterling Weatherford said. “And I want to play football, so I’ll do what it takes.”
