Members of Alpha Delta Phi, Miami’s oldest fraternity on campus, hung a banner outside their chapter house on South Campus Avenue in support of Charlie Kirk following his assassination. 

Turning Point members host vigil in wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s death

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, a singular shot found its way onto the screens of millions of college students across America – including at Miami University. Charlie Kirk, right-wing activist and loyalist to President Donald Trump, was assassinated in front of a crowd of about 3,000 college students at Utah Valley University, who gathered to watch him debate young voters as part of his “Prove Me Wrong” series on the The American Comeback Tour.

JANUS Forum panelists discuss upcoming election, future of the two-party system

Twice a year, the JANUS Forum brings two panelists from opposite sides of the political spectrum to Miami University’s campus to discuss a topic relevant to students and the broader community. This semester, the organization brought two former members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Susan Brooks and Stephanie Murphy, to speak on the future of the two-party system.

 College students across America are protesting, rallying and supporting activism movements on their campuses with threats of arrest looming over them. To do these acts of assembly, protesters on college campuses often rely on the First Amendment to support their actions, whether that’s holding up signs or more noticeable acts like encampments or volatile language.
