Reece Hollowell


Reece is a Junior from Oxford, Ohio, double-majoring in journalism and professional writing. He joined TMS in the spring of 2022 and has been a regular writer ever since, producing articles about everything from the Oscars to mental health on campus to Nicole Kidman.

He joined the editorial staff in October of 2022 as Asst. Entertainment Editor, and has recently been named Entertainment Editor and Audio Editor. Reece hopes to continue growing both sections and producing high-quality and entertaining content.

Outside of the newsroom, Reece enjoys watching movies, listening to music and spending too much money on physical media. He has greatly enjoyed his time with TMS and hopes to continue making both papers and memories.

How many journalists does it take to change a tire?

Cars are a lot like people: I don’t really understand them. When things are going fine with my car, it’s easy to coast along and tell myself I’m doing a good job, even if I’m not quite sure what’s going on under the hood. In fact, I like driving, and do it enough that I feel comfortable driving in pretty much any condition.

Since many Christmas movies leave me feeling cold, I often turn to films that are Christmas-adjacent; they may have similar themes, take place around the holidays or simply evoke a wintery vibe, but few people would call them “Christmas movies.”

Nestor Torres has given performances on Miami's campus, spoken about music and peacebuilding advised on entering the music industry. By his own admission, he’s gotten just as much of an education from his time here as the students he’s spoken to.
