Poll worker commends Miami students, voters

On Election Day, I was a poll worker in the Oxford Community Arts Center. The overwhelming majority of the voters were students, and their willingness to respond to poll workers with consideration and patience helped to make a long day a positive one.

For considerable periods of time there were long lines, and voters were obliged to undergo scrutiny regarding their eligibility to vote.

During trying moments the behavior of students was exemplary. The university also deserves plaudits for providing students with letters that listed their address here, a measure that served to hasten the process of verifying eligibility.

Life in Oxford is enhanced by experiences like this one.
