Students and faculty protest on Cook Field

Members from the groups Faculty Alliance of Miami, Young Democratic Socialists of America, Ohio Student Association (OSA) and College Democrats joined together to host what they called “May day,” a funeral for Cook Field May 1. “This is what we’ve been working towards,” said Kali Barcroft, the president of OSA, “Our voices have been actively silenced.” People shared speeches, expressing their frustrations that they have felt ignored by the Board of Trustees. They then marched along Cook Field, leading chants.

VIDEO: Students and Faculty protest arena project, funding cuts and ICE

Students and faculty grouped up outside of the Armstrong Student Center, ready to greet Make it Miami guests early April 10. Members from the groups Faculty Alliance of Miami, Young Democratic Socialists of America, Ohio Student Organization and College Democrats joined together, wielding posters and leading chants. Volunteers handed out flyers explaining why they opposed the Cook Field arena project, protested U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and voiced concerns for lack of funding for majors. The group moved towards Roudebush Hall, conducting shouts, where both faculty and students gave speeches.

Bizarre Butler County S2 Episode 1: Butler County Historical Society

The award-winning podcast, Bizarre Butler County, returns for another season of exploring ghost stories and unique happenings in the area. The (still) amateur ghost hunters, Sarah Kennel and Taylor Powers, discuss some stories from locations outside of Oxford, with the exception of the oldest structure on Miami University’s campus. In its first episode of season two, the duo explores the Benninghofen House Museum, better known as the Butler County Historical Society, and the numerous spirits that reside there. From the woman of the home who is particular about how her silverware is laid out to two playful young girls, the museum has reported tons of paranormal activity over the years. Bizarre Butler County Episode 4: Spiritual Realm Paranormal Investigators

Welcome to another episode of Bizarre Butler County, where hosts Sarah Kennel and Taylor Powers will be investigating ghost stories and urban legends in the Butler County area. In this week’s episode, Kennel and Powers speak with Ashlee St. Denis from Spiritual Realm Paranormal Investigators (SRPI) a paranormal investigation team that services Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. The two learn more about what the group does and even get a new set of eyes on their findings from their Ghost Biker investigation…. Behind the curtain: The making of “Incandescence”

While in preparation for the Miami University Fashion and Design (MUFD) annual fashion show, President Halle Maskery, Vice President Ally Berkowitz and design co-director Maeve Vulcan shared their experiences with the organization. As the design team spent the week of the show finalizing their collections and scheduling fittings with their models, Vulcan explained the ideation process for her latest designs – one collection being centered around escapism from a busy senior year. Halle Maskery and Ally Berkowitz reflected on their previous years with the organization, giving insight into how they run such a large and diverse organization – with this year’s show featuring over one hundred looks. The organization’s 18th annual show themed “Incandescence” took place April 27 in Millett Hall, beginning at 5 p.m.
