Miami football transfer portal updates

This story will be continuously updated as new changes are announced.

The college football transfer portal opened its window on Jan. 2, marking new changes in hopes of more roster retention through bowl games and playoffs. Now, eligible players can enter the portal during the two-week period in search of a new team. Previously, players could enter the portal during a 20-day window in December and a 10-day window in April.

The Miami University RedHawks football team saw numerous players leaving as well as a few recruits during the window. Kam Perry, Adam Trick, Cole Weaver, Drew Terrill and Coy Beasley are amongst the players heading out of Oxford. All five announced commitments to Power Four programs across the country. In addition, Jameil Hamm, Luke Evans and Josh Lukusa remain in the portal uncommitted as of Jan. 9.

The new commits to Miami include Brian Beidatsch Jr., Ben Minich, Shaun Shahu and Dillon Tatum coming from two Power 4 programs, a Football Championship Series program and a Division II school, respectively. These new commits are looking to fill gaps that are being left by graduating seniors and players lost to the transfer portal.

The transfer portal will close on Jan. 16. Eligible players have this 15-day window to enter their names, but after it's closed, they still have the opportunity to commit to another university or elect to stay with their current team. This article will be updated continuously as more transfer commitments are announced in the coming days.

Transferring out of Miami

Khory Moss, freshman defensive back to University of Akron (Committed Jan. 20)

Moss appeared in three games this season. He stays in the MAC and travels north to Akron.

Josh Lukusa, redshirt junior defensive lineman to Missouri State University (Committed Jan. 17)

Lukusa played in 35 games between 2023-25, registering a total of 29 tackles and one sack as a RedHawk. His sack came in 2024 in the season opener against the University of Miami Hurricanes. Lukusa will play at Missouri State in the Conference USA with one more year of eligibility remaining.

Tito Glass Jr., redshirt freshman running back – transfer unknown (Entered Jan. 16)

After redshirting his freshman year in 2024, Glass saw limited action this season, appearing in two games and totaling 47 yards. He rushed for 41 yards against the Ball State University Cardinals.

Noah Ehrlich, freshman quarterback – transfer unknown (Entered Jan. 15)

Ehrlich came to Miami after serving as a four-time team captain at Crown Point High School. He helped his team to a state semifinal appearance in 2024. That season, he threw for 2,393 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Luke Evans, redshirt sophomore defensive back to Kennesaw State University (Committed Jan. 11)

In two years with the RedHawks, Evans combined for 41 tackles, including 23 solo tackles. He entered the transfer portal on Dec. 17 and announced his commitment to Kennesaw State on social media on Jan. 11.

Cole Weaver, redshirt sophomore receiver to Syracuse University (Committed Jan. 7)

Weaver became a standout receiver this season, leading the roster with 45 receptions and catching 642 yards and one touchdown as a sophomore. His touchdown came in the loss to Western Michigan at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship game on Dec. 6. Weaver will head east to Syracuse, where the Orange finished the year 3-9 and bottom of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Adam Trick, redshirt junior defensive lineman to Texas Tech University (Committed Jan. 7)

Trick emerged as one of the nation’s best edge rushers, racking up 59 tackles, 8.5 sacks and three forced fumbles this season, ranking fourth in the MAC and 24th in the NCAA for sacks. He became the key to Miami’s defensive line and helped the RedHawks rank second in the conference in sacks and first in forced fumbles. Trick will replenish a Texas Tech defensive line that saw six players entering the portal.

Koy Beasley, redshirt freshman safety to Kansas State University (Committed Jan. 5)

After redshirting his first year at Purdue University, Beasley recorded 21 solo tackles and one interception as a RedHawk. He appeared in all 14 games this season and had a season-high nine tackles against Western Michigan on Oct. 25. Beasley will join Kansas State for the inaugural year under head coach Collin Klein after safeties Daniel Cobbs and Qua Moss, who had three and two interceptions this year, respectively, entered the portal.

Hudson Powell, redshirt junior long snapper to Auburn University (Committed Jan. 4)

Powell redshirted his first year at Miami and continued to be an integral part of the kicking unit, playing in all 14 games in the 2024 season. He notably recovered a fumble at Notre Dame University. After not receiving much play time in the 2025 season, Powell entered the transfer portal, making a big move to the Southeastern Conference program in Auburn, Alabama.

Drew Terrill, redshirt junior offensive lineman to University of Houston (Committed Jan. 4)

Terrill stepped up as one of five new starters on Miami’s offensive line this season. The 6-foot-6, 289-pound lineman from Lebanon, Indiana, became the second commit out of the portal for Houston on Jan. 4.

Kam Perry, redshirt junior receiver to University of Colorado (Committed Jan. 3)

Perry arrived at Miami as a transfer from Indiana University ahead of the 2024 season. In two years as a RedHawk, he caught 1,142 yards and six touchdowns. All six of his touchdowns came this past season, when he led the team in receiving yards (976) and ranked second in receptions (43). Perry was the first commitment out of the portal for the Buffaloes, who will be entering year four with Deion Sanders as head coach.

Jameil Hamm, freshman defensive lineman – transfer unknown (Entered Jan. 1)

Transferring into Miami

Mason Ellens, freshman defensive back from Iowa State University (Committed Jan. 22)

Ellens redshirted his first year at Iowa State. He was a three-star prospect out of Glenbard West High School, where he compiled 56 tackles, two interceptions and three pass breakups as a senior.

Devontae Armstrong, sophomore offensive lineman from Ohio State University (Committed Jan. 20)

Devontae Armstrong and his twin brother, Deontae, both played at Ohio State as offensive lineman. Devontae entered the portal, while Deontae will stay at Ohio State. Devontae is 6-foot-5 and 314 pounds.

Evan Malcore, redshirt junior offensive tackle from Northern Illinois University (Committed Jan. 19)

The 6-foot-6, 305 pound offensive tackle started in every game of 2024 as the only underclassmen on Northern Illinois’ starting offensive line. That year, the Huskies allowed the fewest sacks in the MAC with 1.46 per game. Malcore will stay in the MAC at Miami while the Huskies leave for the Mountain West Conference.

Cade Yacamelli, redshirt junior running back from the University of Wisconsin (Committed Jan. 16)

Yacamelli made constant appearances for the Badgers, playing in 31 games between 2023-25. He played his best year in 2024 with 274 rushing yards and two touchdowns. This past year, he rushed for 128 yards, including 20 against Miami in the season opener.

Devin Hyatt, redshirt sophomore receiver from the University of Arizona (Committed Jan. 16)

After appearing in all 12 games during the 2024 season, Hyatt only played in two games this year. He sustained an ankle injury in 2024, and he caught a total of 119 receiving yards between 2024-25. His older brother, Jalin, currently plays for the New York Giants.

Damarion Witten, sophomore receiver from Ohio State University (Committed Jan. 16)

Witten spent two years with Ohio State before entering the transfer portal. He saw limited action, appearing in one game against Purdue University in 2024. At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, he would be one of the biggest receivers at Miami. He has three more years of eligibility and opted to travel west to Oxford from Columbus.

Blayne Myrick, redshirt junior linebacker from the University of South Alabama (Committed Jan. 14)

In three seasons with South Alabama, Myrick totaled 191 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one interception, which was a pick-six in 2024. This past season, he finished with 84 tackles, including six tackles-for-losses.

David McComb, freshman quarterback from the University of Kansas (Committed Jan. 11)

With four years of eligibility remaining, McComb joins the RedHawks to fill out the quarterback room. Miami will lose redshirt senior quarterback Henry Hesson to graduation but retains redshirt freshman Thomas Gotkowski, who started in the final three games of the 2025 season. McComb served as a scout team quarterback and wasn’t on the depth chart this year. He was a potential starter for Kansas to succeed Jalon Daniels, but he instead opted to enter the portal on Dec. 19.

Rodney Nelson, redshirt sophomore running back from Monmouth University (Committed Jan. 11)

Nelson was one of the FCS’s best running backs this season, ranking third with 1,802 rushing yards and leading the league with 28 touchdowns. He helped Monmouth finish 9-3 this year before entering the portal. Nelson joins Miami after the RedHawks lose both Kenny Tracy and Jordan Brunson to graduation.

Marcus Moore Jr., sophomore defensive lineman from Purdue University (Committed Jan. 9)

Moore rejoins the MAC after transferring to Purdue from the University of Akron after the 2024 season. He saw limited action with the Boilermakers, recording two assisted tackles this year, and had a career-high 31 tackles in 2024 with the Zips. Following his year in the Big Ten, Moore will once again play in MACtion for the RedHawks, who are looking to fill the defensive line with the absence of Adam Trick and Nasir Washington.

Brian Beidatsch Jr., senior offensive lineman from Duquesne University (Committed Jan. 9)

Beidatsch has spent four seasons with Duquesne and became a standout offensive lineman, having been named to the First Team All-Northeast Conference this past season. He was also named the Northeast Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2024. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound player will jump to the FBS level and don the Red and White next season for his last year of eligibility.

Ben Minich, redshirt sophomore safety from Notre Dame University (Committed Jan. 8)

Minich didn’t see much action on defense this season, notching just one tackle against Syracuse on Nov. 22, but he played in every game on special teams kickoff and punt coverage units. He had his best season in 2024, when he totaled eight tackles.

Shaun Shahu, redshirt freshman offensive lineman from Saginaw Valley State University (Committed Jan. 8)

After two years with Saginaw Valley State in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Shahu entered the transfer portal looking to jump to the Division I level. Shahu played in 15 games and appeared in all 11 this season, earning him a Second Team All-GLIAC spot. Shahu will be one of the biggest players on Miami’s offensive line, standing at 6-foot-7 and 305 pounds.

Dillon Tatum, redshirt junior safety from Northwestern University (Committed Jan. 6)

In one year at Northwestern, Tatum had 17 tackles and one pass breakup. He previously played three seasons at Michigan State University, with his best year coming in 2023 with 45 tackles and 2.5 tackles-for-losses. Tatum will leave the Big Ten for the MAC with his final year of eligibility.
