MU professors receive grant to continue work
Two Miami University professors, Kay Sloan, professor of English, and Ellen Price, professor of art, have been awarded the Individual Excellence Awards from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). Each professor will receive $5,000.
The OAC approved 59 awards this year totaling $300,000. Individual Excellence Awards are in recognition of exceptional work made by creative artists. These awards support artists' growth and recognize their work in Ohio. Only 8 percent of applicants in this competitive program receive grants.
Sloan, who has been at Miami since 1984, will use the grant to complete the writing of a current collection of stories.
Price, who has been at Miami since 1987, has previously received the OAC grants twice, in 1996 and 2001.
