Rarely is one of us upset for more than 20 minutes before the others notice and sit them down to talk about their feelings or offer to bake them cookies. We are all currently, or have previously been, leaders of student organizations. Our families like to communicate their issues with each other through us. We are all stressed.
As I scrolled through my Twitter timeline last week, I noticed a lot of tweets about Billie Eilish, something not out of the ordinary for the past few months. After releasing her debut album in March 2019, Eilish quickly rose to fame. The hot topic trending on Twitter this time? Her first time at the Grammys. At the 62nd Grammy Awards on Jan. 26, Eilish was the star of the night, winning five of the six awards for which she was nominated. She became the youngest person to ever win Album of the Year and the second person (and first woman) to ever win the Big Four: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist.
This isn’t soccer, or basketball or rugby. It’s Quidditch, the same sport created by J.K. Rowling in the “Harry Potter” series. While these players don’t fly or chase after winged golden balls, the magic of the sport is still captured by the mandatory broomsticks players must run with and the classic three hoops made for scoring.
Freshman guard Peyton Scott scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to ice a RedHawks victory.
“It couldn’t be real. I still don’t believe it," Mekhi Lairy said.
Challenge accepted.
One hour -- that’s how long it took women’s basketball coach Deunna Hendrix on the first day of practice to realize Peyton Scott wasn’t a normal first-year.
While most of the student body was celebrating the holidays, the men’s basketball RedHawks were hard at work, trying to show their young core could hang with the rest of the Mid-American Conference.
Will Bolton still can’t believe his time with Miami's club soccer team is over.
“Obviously, it’s not a happy mood in the locker room,” freshman guard Dae Dae Grant said. “We’re not happy at all with the outcome.”
Nike Sibande stepped up and helped Miami win a wild game for its first MAC victory of the season.
