I joined The Miami Student in my first semester of sophomore year, mostly because I wanted to see what it was like, and I quickly found myself gravitating towards the Opinion section. I’ve never had much experience in journalism or opinion writing, and this seemed to be a good way to try it out. I’ve been a writer for years, but this was a new format and a new experience for me.

I'm glad I decided to try it out.

I enjoy writing about transit, space exploration and politics. I like to analyze the way they intersect and how each can be improved and changed for the better, which is ironic because I’m from an area that has never had much of any of those things. I’m from Wyoming, Ohio, a small suburban town north of Cincinnati. It’s a decent place, but not a lot goes on.

On campus, outside of TMS itself, my main activity is the Miami Medieval Club. I love meeting up with my friends and getting to sword fight each other for a few hours every week. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to burn off energy.

I don’t write a ton for the paper, but when I do, it’s something I’m very passionate about.
