Lightning flashed and flowers bloomed as Miamians donned shorts and umbrellas to sun and slosh their way through the first days of April. Spring semester brings warmth, rain, thoughts of graduation and different challenges for Miami University’s Physical Facilities Department.

Senior grounds worker Kevin said their focus switches from snow and sidewalks to grass and flower beds.

“Everything is seasonal,” he said. “Everything changes.”

Strong winds have exacerbated their tasks, spreading trash and debris around campus.

While Kevin blew grass clippings off walkways, students took their usual activities outside.

Some studied and others hit Cook Field to play sports, all shaking off memories of winter’s chill.
