Miami student and family found dead in their home in Dublin

Content warning: This story contains mentions of self-harm and death.

Miami University student Anish Rajan Rajaram and his parents were found dead by police in their home in Dublin, Ohio.

Officers responded around 2 a.m. on Jan. 18 to a well-being check for the home requested by a friend of the residents. The Dublin Police Department said Rajaram and his parents appeared to die by firearm and had been dead for multiple days. Police did not find evidence of forced entry and suspect a murder-suicide.

Rajaram, 19, was a sophomore accounting major in the Farmer School of Business. He graduated magna cum laude from Dublin Coffman High School before attending Miami. Rajaram was also an active member in Kappa Sigma and Pi Sigma Epsilon.

“We are devastated by this loss of life,” Miami wrote in a statement. “Our hearts go out to Anish’s family, friends, and all who knew him.”

The statement also encouraged students who need support to reach out to the Student Counseling Service, the Dean of Students office or the H.O.P.E (Help Over the Phone Everywhere) line.

The university will also share details about a memorial when that information becomes available.
