The crash caused damage to both the inside and outside of Chestnut Place Apartments.

An SUV collided with a Chestnut Place Apartment, injuring one person early this morning. Officials said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The vehicle left the roadway at the intersection of South Campus Avenue and East Chestnut Street, striking the building. The vehicle traveled through the grass and dealt exterior and interior damage to the apartment.

The Oxford Fire Department (OFD) was dispatched at 7:13 a.m for the incident.

One of the apartment’s residents received minor injuries, according to OFD Captain Chris Johns. Part of the wall hit the occupant’s head as the vehicle struck the building. The driver suffered no injuries.

Johns did not disclose who was in the car or the apartment. The Oxford Police Department is still working on investigating the cause of the accident.
