What Miami is Wearing: Winter

As expected, this winter is filled with fleece and color. Layering has become a staple for students as we travel from the harsh outdoors to the heated classrooms. Layering a turtleneck under a sweatshirt or another jacket over one is a great way to add definition to an outfit while staying warm outside and cool inside. Wearing a smaller jacket under your winter coat proves successful in upgrading a comfortable outfit to be able to acclimate to the temperature. Fleece has been huge this winter. Whether it be a quarter buttoned pull-over or a zip up jacket, the fun and elaborate patterns level up any look with a whimsical flair. For footwear, platform styles have proven they’re here to stay. With brands like Nike, Converse and Doc Martens filling the need for a cool and comfortable platform shoe, students are embracing the style. When faced with harsh winter weather, personal style can become hard to express under a warm winter coat. But as the winter progresses, I’m excited to see where Miami’s style goes as we continue to express ourselves now that we’re all back on campus.
