Miami hockey continued its National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) schedule this weekend with a series at Denver. The RedHawks were defeated 4-1 Friday and 7-1 Saturday.

Friday, Miami scored its only goal on the powerplay, where the team has had success this season. Sophomore defenseman Dylan Moulton scored his second goal in as many weekend series following a faceoff win from sophomore forward Joe Casetti.

The score answered the first Denver goal of the game, which was scored three and a half minutes into the first period. Denver then scored three unanswered goals to close out the game. Sophomore goalie Ludvig Persson made 32 saves for Miami.

Saturday, Miami didn’t score until Denver had already found the net five times. The RedHawks’ lone goal was scored two minutes into the third period, when senior forward Monte Graham knocked a puck to senior forward Jack Olmstead following a scrum in front of Denver’s net.

Olmstead wound around the circle and fired a shot in from long range to put the ’Hawks on the board.

Denver would score twice more before the final buzzer sounded. Miami was outshot 48-15 in the contest, and junior goalie Logan Neaton made 41 saves.

The team’s next series will be at home this Friday and Saturday against Long Island University. Friday’s game starts at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday’s game starts at 5:05 p.m.
