Coronavirus case confirmed at McCullough-Hyde

McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford confirmed one case of the novel coronavirus, according to a weekly update letter dated Monday, March 16, sent out by TriHealth president and CEO Mark Clement.

Rob Whitehouse, TriHealth's vice president for marketing and communications, said someone was tested at McCullough-Hyde on Wednesday, March 11 and immediately returned home to Indiana to self-quarantine. The test later returned as positive on Saturday, March 14.

This person is not a Miami University student or Oxford resident, and they are no longer at McCullough-Hyde.

Whitehouse said this person routinely comes to McCullough-Hyde for care and that the hospital receives a lot of patients from Indiana.

Further details about the patient who tested positive for coronavirus are unclear at this time.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Ohio Department of Health reported 67 confirmed cases and 17 hospitalizations due to the coronavirus.

This is an ongoing story, and it will be updated as more information becomes available.
