By Students must register internet gaming devices | September 15, 2010Staff Students must register internet gaming devices As of Sept. 10, students are no longer able to access the Internet with unregistered gaming devices. IT Services removed filters on residential networks that allowed gaming devices like Xbox 360, Wii and PSP to bypass network security. Miami's primary network defense component, CCA, malfunctioned earlier this year, causing problems with wireless service. However, CISCO and IT Services said the problems have been fixed. The CCA system aids Miami's network in virus prevention and identity protection in addition to network attacks. Students can register gaming devices through their BlackBoard homepage. For any questions or electronic support, contact the IT Services Support Desk at ITHelp@muohio.edu or (513) 529-7900.
