Coming off a huge upset victory over the BIG 10’s Northwestern, Miami (2-2) will ride its momentum into Buffalo (1-3) to begin Mid-American Conference (MAC) play this Saturday.
On Saturday, college football’s longest standing non-conference rivalry will be rekindled, as Miami clashes with Cincinnati for southwestern Ohio Supremacy. After 125 meetings, the series is tied 59-59-7, so this is a big one.
Eyes are on Miami quarterback Brett Gabbert to take the next step in his development this season. He is among the players on the pre-season Maxwell Award watch list, an honor given to the most outstanding player in college football. Additionally, he was voted as the pre-season First-Team All-MAC quarterback.
Although he had other job offers, Steele believes that he has a great opportunity to reestablish the Miami brand. “I just felt that this is a sleeping giant when you look at the whole profile: the campus, the academics, the basketball tradition,” Steele said. “It’s all there.”
The Miami University women’s basketball team lost at home Wednesday night to the Kent State Golden Flashes, 61-52. The Golden Flashes never relinquished the lead in the contest.
On Sunday, Feb. 13, the AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals take on the NFC champion Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI. On the road to this stage, the Bengals ended their 31-year long playoff win drought. The Rams, led by Miami University alumni Sean McVay, had to defeat the legendary Tom Brady, who beat them in Super Bowl LIII.
The Miami University men’s basketball team claimed victory over Stetson University in an 80-65 contest at Millett Hall. The RedHawks improve to 3-0 with the win.
After a huge win on the road at Georgia Tech, there was concern that the Miami RedHawks men's basketball team would come out flat against the Lamar Cardinals.
