RedHawk baseball had a successful showing in the Campbell Invitational last weekend, winning three of its four games in Buies Creek, NC. After dropping the weekend opener to Western Michigan on Friday, Miami (5-3) bounced back to win its next three, sweeping a Saturday double-header against Yale, and then defeating Campbell on Sunday.
For the second straight game, first-half shooting woes caused the Miami men's basketball team (15-14, 8-8 MAC) to fall behind by double-digits at Akron (12-16, 5-11 MAC) Saturday.
The 'Hawks handily defeated BGSU on Saturday 92-64, vaulting them into second place in the Mid-American Conference East Division. Miami has won eight of their last nine heading into its final two games of the season.

The Miami men's basketball team dropped its third straight game after a comeback attempt fell one point short in Tuesday's 58-57 loss to Eastern Michigan.
Defenseman Grant Hutton often feeds forward Josh Melnick for transitions out of Miami's defensive zone. Melnick may dump the puck and forward Karch Bachman will use his speed to try to make space in the offensive zone. Forward Carson Meyer may then jump off the bench for a line change and, if defenseman Louie Belpedio is pinching, Meyer might find Belpedio in front of the net.
Though Miami hockey played more complete games this weekend against No. 3/4 St. Cloud State University, the RedHawks' turnovers from poor puck management led to a 5-2 loss on Friday night and a 4-0 loss on Saturday night. It is the third time this season the 'Hawks have been swept by their opponents, and the second time they've been swept by National Collegiate Hockey Conference opponents.

A smile constantly spanned the face of Wally Szczerbiak last Friday as the Miami men's basketball legend made a triumphant return to Oxford. Over 3,500 fans -- the second largest crowd of the season -- filed into Millett Hall to celebrate "Wally Night," a tribute to Szczerbiak and the most successful era in the history of MU basketball.

After a 1-4-1 January stretch and splitting last weekend's series against No. 15 Western Michigan, the RedHawks look to avoid minutes of offensive droughts and defensive lapses to put their team in a better position to win.
