JANUS Forum guests debate role of money in politics ahead of 2024 general election

The Department of Political Science hosted Mick Mulvaney, former President Donald Trump's chief of staff, and Tiffany Muller, president of End Citizens United and Let America Vote, on April 15 for the spring 2024 JANUS Forum. This semester, the forum was entitled “Bought and Paid For? Money, Speech, and Elections in America.”




Total Eclipse of the Parks: How Oxford is preparing to celebrate a historic solar spectacle

As the community gears up for a historic solar eclipse on April 8, the City of Oxford is sponsoring a series of events entitled “Total Eclipse of the Parks” to learn about, celebrate and observe this astronomical feat. The eclipse is said to arrive at 1:53 p.m. and will enter totality at 3:08 p.m. for 2 minutes and 51 seconds.


Talawanda school board discusses new salary model and tiered busing system; presents educational excellence award

The Talawanda School District Board of Education met on the evening of Thursday, March 22 and discussed several potential changes for busing services and administrator salaries beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. The board also announced its selection for the Harry and Virginia Teckman Excellence in Education award.

Talawanda School District Board of Education discussed state legislation, arts and athletics, student accomplishments and more at its second-to-last meeting of the year on Nov. 16 at Talawanda High School’s Performing Arts Center. Treasurer Shaunna Tafelski and Superintendent Ed Theroux also presented information on finances and high school graduation.


How Miami faculty are using the newest round of grant funding

Miami University’s October issue of The Wrap Up announced eight new faculty and staff grant projects. Selected recipients were given externally funded grants to fund their research and projects. The topics of interest ranged from mental health in the social work field, to LGBTQ+ wellness and community outreach for educational support.




Issue 2: 17 local vape shops and what it means for Oxford

Ohio’s upcoming general election features Issue 2 on the ballot which, if passed, would legalize the recreational use of marijuana for Ohio residents over the age of 21. Currently, the state has legalized the use of medical marijuana, along with synthetic cannabinoids such as Delta-8, which can be found at some of Oxford’s vape shops.
