After rising once again in the AP Top 25 poll, the No. 19 Miami University men’s basketball team (29-0, 16-0 in conference play) will play its last home game this season, welcoming the University of Toledo Rockets (16-13, 10-6 in conference play) to Millett Hall on March 3.
Miami University athletics holds a storied history, both with its player and coach development in Oxford and with the RedHawks’ notable matchups from the past 150 years. Here are seven of the best games in Miami University history.
Across the Miami University athletic department, multiple athletes have received the honor of having their jersey numbers retired after their collegiate careers. These are players who etched their names into both Miami and Mid-American Conference (MAC) record books, with some even going on to have success in the professional leagues.
In April, 2025, The Miami Student won multiple awards at the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) conference, including the 2025 Corbin Gwaltney Award for Best All-Around Student Newspaper. Following another soldout crowd at Millett Hall, the Miami University men’s basketball team (25-0, 12-0 in conference play) is back on the road with a rematch against the University of Massachusetts Minutemen (15-11, 6-7 in conference play). Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 17.
In head coach Katey Nyquist’s second year, the Miami University synchronized skating program is looking to capture another title at the United States Synchronized Skating National Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 6-7.

The Miami RedHawks men’s and women’s basketball teams added onto their historic success in a double header at Millett Hall on Saturday, Jan. 31 for One Miami Day.
Miami University men’s and women’s basketball teams will host a double-header gameday at Millett Hall on Feb. 1 for One Miami Day. The women’s team will open the day at 1 p.m. with a Battle of the Bricks rivalry matchup against the Ohio University Bobcats. The men’s team will then take the court against the Northern Illinois University Huskies at 3:30 p.m.

The spring semester is here, and the Miami University RedHawks athletic program features a slew of notable home matchups. The men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as hockey enter the back half of their seasons, while baseball and softball will start up early in the semester.

Usually, I like to look into a movie before I buy a ticket for it. At the very least, I like to read the synopsis, check the cast for any recognizable names and maybe see what the general audience reviews are before I commit to a two or more hour endeavor.
