During Miami University’s winter break — from Dec. 8, 2025, to Jan. 26 — police officers responded to 47 different incidents, according to an Oxford Police Department report.
On Dec. 10, at 5:14 p.m., in the 70 block of S. Main St., officers responded to an injured pedestrian. A driver was traveling in reverse when they struck the victim, who was walking on a crosswalk. Emergency Medical Services transported the pedestrian to McCollough-Hyde Memorial Hospital.
Later that day, at 2:37 p.m., in the 5200 block of College Corner Pike, officers were called in for a disturbance at a warming shelter. Once the female was identified as the culprit, officers requested that she leave. After the female argued with officers for over 30 minutes, the officers arrested her for trespassing and took her to Butler County Jail.
On Dec. 29, at 10:27 a.m., in the 10 block of E. Walnut St., officers responded to a nationwide threat that the Hillel Foundation at Miami University had received in its email the day prior. Officers checked the area around Hillel and found nothing suspicious.
On Jan. 1, at 9:28 p.m., on Baker Drive, officers were dispatched to a 911 hangup call. When officers arrived, a female answered the door, and officers discovered that a domestic violence incident had occurred. The suspect had fled before officers arrived at the house.
On Jan. 7, at 9:43 p.m., in the 10 block of Gail Drive, officers responded to a dispute in progress at a mobile park home. One individual was transported to the hospital for a dog bite.

On Jan. 9, at 12:24 p.m., in the 940 block of S. Main St., responders euthanized a racoon after it was found incapacitated.
On Jan. 10, at 1:47 a.m., in the 5000 block of College Corner Pike, officers responded to an assault; a female victim was stabbed during the altercation. After a brief pursuit, the known suspect was apprehended by officers.
On Jan. 12, at 7:58 p.m., in the 90 block of Michelle Ave., officers responded to a harassment report involving the Enterprise stores in Oxford and Hamilton.
A day later, at 7:47 p.m., in the 6050 block of Joseph Ave., a male was reported missing. However, he was later located.
On Jan. 20, at 9:30 p.m., in the 5350 block of College Corner Pike, officers noticed water flooding onto the road. The officers later found that the source was a local residence.
On Jan. 22, at 11:50 a.m., in the 5200 block of College Corner Pike, officers responded to a juvenile refusing to go to school. He was given an unruly juvenile offense.
On Jan. 24, at 1:53 p.m., in the 0 block of Miami Commons, officers fielded a report for a scam. The resident stated they fell victim to the scam and lost $10,000.
Later that day, at 4:25 p.m., in the 5000 block of College Corner Pike, a male was cited by officers for disorderly conduct after creating a condition of physical harm to himself and others while under the influence of narcotics.
On Jan. 26, at 12:46 a.m., in the 300 block of N. Poplar St., officers were dispatched after a male broke into a residence. Upon arrival, officers located the male and took him into custody for burglary and transported him to Butler County Jail.
