Meade and Bothast won the race with 28.2% and 25.7% of the vote, respectively. Meade had 2,788 votes; Bothast had 2,540.
The other candidates in the race split the rest of the votes cast. Mendy Napier got 20.2% with 1,999 votes. Nicole Bays finished in fourth place with 19.2% of the vote (1,899 votes), while Krista Stenger got 6.6% of the votes (656 votes).
Meade, a former school teacher in the Talawanda School District, was re-elected to the school board, which he has served on for the past four years. During his second term, he hopes to manage budget costs without hurting educational platforms and create a safe workplace, physically and mentally, for both students and staff.
Bothast is a teacher in Hamilton with three children who attend TSD. He intends to work on increasing diversity and inclusion efforts within the district, with teacher recruitment as one pillar. He also wants to expand opportunities for Talawanda students that aren’t college-focused, such as opportunities with the military or vocational training programs.
