A male Miami University student is in the hospital after jumping off a third-story roof while under the influence of acid, according to a police report.

The report states that at approximately 8:42 p.m. on Sept. 6, an Oxford Police Department (OPD) officer was dispatched to 200 block of Gaslight Ave. to attend to the student, who was on the ground in the parking lot with injuries.

The student’s roommates said he was “acting a little strange” before he jumped, but the OPD officer who wrote the report did not find a suicide note during his investigation of the apartment.

Upon hearing cries for help in another bedroom, the officer found another male student “on the ground crying, holding his dog.” One of the roommates informed the officer that both the student who jumped and the student crying on the ground had taken a tab of acid each.

A neighbor who witnessed the incident said the student hurriedly walked to the ledge of the roof and jumped off. He was alone on the roof.

The student was transported to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital then airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.
