Field hockey wins MAC, goes to NCAA tournament

The RedHawks hold a 5-1 in-conference record and a 13-7 overall mark.

The Miami University RedHawks are field hockey Mid-American Conference Tournament Champions for the third year in a row. 

They beat Kent State, 2-1, in Saturday’s MAC finale at the Miami Field Hockey Complex. After the Golden Flashes scored in the first, Miami made it dramatic, striking for two fourth-quarter goals to claim the victory. 

Junior Leonor Berlie, who provided the go-ahead goal, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

After receiving automatic entry into the NCAA Tournament, the RedHawks head to Stanford tomorrow to take on the Cardinal. The opening-round match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
