The Miami University women's tennis team begins its regular season this weekend with a trip to Bloomington, Indiana to play Indiana University. The RedHawks then return home to face a familiar opponent in Eastern Kentucky University. The RedHawks are coming off a successful return to action in Florida in the FGCU Invitational. The RedHawks won nine singles matches in the invitational. "It was great to have all the team back and ready to go," associate head coach Ricardo Rosas said. "I believed it was a very productive nine days to get us back into practice and competition mode to start our matches this weekend." While the RedHawks have yet to meet Indiana this year, Eastern Kentucky is a very familiar foe. The two squads faced off in several exhibition events and matches this season. "EKU is a team that fights a lot and makes you play to the end," Rosas said. "We can expect it to be a tough battle as they fight for every point and we will do the same." The RedHawks play Indiana 11 a.m. Saturday and return home for a 10 a.m. bout against Eastern Kentucky Sunday. The home match will take place in Hamilton, Ohio. "At this point we have seniors doing a good job in terms of organizing and communicating with team," head coach Yana Carollo said. "However, building stronger leadership remains one of the goals for this season."
