Miami University has set lofty goals to reach carbon neutrality by 2040, including funding renewable energy projects and constructing more environmentally-friendly buildings. These do well to reduce carbon use on campus, but lurking beyond the brick buildings and tree-lined paths are emissions that students are forced into from the second they step on campus, and which neither they nor Miami have full control over.

The Miami University RedHawks hockey team officially fell out of the  National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) postseason contention a few weeks before its matchup with the No. 4 Western Michigan University Broncos. However, the finality of the regular season set in after the final buzzer on Saturday at Goggin Ice Center.

On Dec. 3, 2024, Miami University professors were told their course load would be restructured. Tenure-track and tenured faculty will now be required to teach four classes per semester. This is a jump from the average two or three that many professors, regardless of standing, have taught.
