Recap: Miami football takes 5-1 home record for 2024 season with a victory over NIU

The Miami University RedHawks football team (7-4, 6-1 in conference play) played its last game at Yager Stadium for the 2024 season. After taking a 17-3 lead in the first half, the RedHawks held the Northern Illinois University Huskies (6-5, 3-4 in conference play) from a late-game comeback and took their final home victory 20-9.

At the end of the 2010 football season, the Miami University RedHawks were anticipating an early finish to the year. After their last regular season matchup, the RedHawks sat at second in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East division. The only way for Miami to make the MAC championship was with a Kent State University victory over Ohio University.

Randy Walker stepped in as football head coach of the Miami University RedHawks in 1990. At the time, the RedHawks consistently posted losing records year after year. With Walker, Miami improved each year, with the RedHawks finishing 10-1 in his final season. Overall, Walker compiled a record of 59-35-5, earning the most wins of any Miami head coach.
