Though the reintroduced campus climate survey failed to garner the student response rate required for in-depth analysis, the employee response rate -- 58 percent of staff and 60 percent of faculty -- is high enough to permit the surveying agency, Rankin & Associates, to do cross-cutting demographic analyses of paid employees.

Trinity College is located in the middle of buzzing Dublin, Ireland, and is semi-regularly swamped with tourists ducking in to see the Book of Kells, or just for a quiet sit. Founded in 1592, the school features Victorian architecture influenced by other institutions such as Oxford (UK) and Cambridge. The grass is cut very low like a golfing green, and the library is the largest in Ireland. In the center of the walled buildings is a campus bar, where students can grab a cider and watch rugby on a massive field. Compared to Miami, where King Library was built in the 1970s, Trinity's campus is a sort of elite utopia without (most of) the snobbery. And the campus life is so nice -- dorms are actually reserved for upperclassmen.

When my brother and I were home for Easter, my mom welcomed us with bowls of Raisin Bran and big mugs of decaffeinated tea, long hugs that started with her telling us how good it was to have us home, even just for 24 hours, and that ended with a kiss on the cheek. She let my brother fall asleep in the recliner and let me take the last granola bar in the pantry. She bent the old rules and put our dishes in the dishwasher for us when we, so used to dining halls and drive-thrus, forgot. But she had one firm request of us before we headed back to Oxford: Stop by the house.
In the past few months, there has been a lot of discussion regarding alcohol consumption by college students. I want to take this opportunity to share the possible dangers that I see as the Butler County Coroner. Excessive drinking of alcohol can cause serious short-term and long-term dangers including the risk of death.
