I recently misplaced my AirPods, which has made listening to music a bit more challenging. The convenience of putting in a single AirPod while cleaning or walking to class made me listen to a lot more music.
However, despite this setback, I have converted to my over-ear headphones, which somehow makes the music sound even better. So when you read these recommendations, imagine them sounding absolutely fabulous through my headphones. It adds to the effect.
‘Forward’ — Shoshana Bean
I saw Shoshana Bean in concert a few weeks back, and was so excited to see she added “Forward” to the setlist. This song is bound to get stuck in your head after just one listen. There’s something about hearing it live that can’t be matched, but regardless, this track is on repeat.
‘petal’ — Ariana Grande
I love Ariana Grande, especially her recent music. The title track from “petal” is so unbelievably gorgeous that I can’t stop listening to it. I adore this album and every track on it, but “petal” is the title track for a reason. It’s impossible to skip.
‘obsessed’ — Olivia Rodrigo
There’s no one I love more than Olivia Rodrigo. Her new album is everything, but her sophomore album, “GUTS,” will always have a special place in my heart. When she released the extended version of the album, “GUTS (spilled),” featuring the track “obsessed,” I was, as the title suggests, obsessed. This is another song where hearing it live changed my life — it really can never be topped.
‘River Deep, Mountain High’ — Celine Dion
No one does it quite like Celine Dion. “River Deep, Mountain High” is a cover of a song originally made famous by Tina Turner, but Dion takes the song and puts her own twist on it. It’s fabulous. She’s one of the greats for a reason.
‘Cross That Bridge’ — ‘Schmigadoon’ cast
It’s not one of my playlists without some showtunes. They’re the backbone of what I listen to, so I have to include them. I saw “Schmigadoon” on Broadway back in May, and fell in love with the fun, catchy songs from the show, including “Cross That Bridge.” It’s an ensemble-heavy song, featuring phenomenal vocals from Kaleigh Cronin. This song is definitely on repeat for me.

‘The Reckoning’ — Paul Alexander Nolan, the cast of ‘The Lost Boys’
I’ve recently developed an obsession with Paul Alexander Nolan. “The Reckoning” is his big number in the show, and it’s fantastic. The shift from the character he’s played throughout the entire production into this scene is jarring, and he does it with such ease. It’s also just such a fire song that it’s likely going to end up in my Spotify Wrapped this year.
‘For the Gaze’ — Megan Hilty, ‘Death Becomes Her’
Anyone who’s ever had one conversation with me knows how much I adore “Death Becomes Her” and Megan Hilty. This song has definitely been on previous playlists of mine; however, it’s been far too long since it has made an appearance. Even just the intro to “For the Gaze” gives me chills. I will forever be mourning when “Death Becomes Her” was on Broadway.
