Growing up, I loved writing short stories — narrating the world through my point of view.
I’d never even thought there were other careers for me besides being an author, because it was the only job I could think of that allowed me to professionally pursue my passion for writing.
That was, until one of my teachers encouraged me to join my high school’s student-run newspaper and opened my eyes to the world of journalism.
It was natural that I’d want to write for The Miami Student once I got to Oxford, and I was beyond thrilled to write for the Opinion section. While I’m not exactly writing short stories anymore, I have been given the opportunity to narrate my perspective of the world, and more specifically, our beloved university.
I enjoy digging into the inner workings of Miami University and the college experience as a whole. I think it is vitally important to understand everything about Miami so you can get the most out of your time here, and I like to help my fellow students do just that.
Aside from the writing I do for Opinion, I also have an ongoing fashion column in the culture section of The Student, because, you know, sharing my opinions on everything else just wasn’t enough.
I love sharing my point of view on the things I’m passionate about — education, fashion — because sharing perspectives sparks conversation, which I believe to be the most important thing when it comes to making connections.
