Miami University alumnus (’08) Sean McVay will make his second Super Bowl appearance as the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams after the team’s 20-17 win against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night.
McVay, a Dayton native, played wide receiver as a walk-on from 2004 to 2007 and won Miami’s Scholar-Athlete Award in 2007. He is considered one of the brightest minds in football.
In his first Super Bowl appearance, McVay lost 13-3 to the New England Patriots in 2019.
The Rams will face the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVIII, who are making their first Super Bowl appearance since 1989. The Bengals defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 on Sunday afternoon.
McVay’s squad will have somewhat of a home field advantage in the game. This year’s contest will be played at Sofi Stadium, LA’s home stadium and the site of its NFC Championship Game win to send them to the Super Bowl. The game kicks off at 6:30 and airs on NBC.
With McVay attempting to win his first Super Bowl, and the Bengals looking for their first win in the big game, this year’s Super Bowl will have big stakes in Oxford, Ohio.
