An unclassified Miami University employee who works in Campus Services has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The employee was last on campus March 20 and is self-isolating at home, according to an email from Miami’s crisis management team sent on March 28.
More people also recently tested positive at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, although it’s unclear exactly how many positive tests came from the hospital.
One person previously tested positive at McCullough-Hyde, but the individual returned home to Indiana to self-isolate. On Wednesday, March 25, Miami President Greg Crawford announced a member of the Miami community tested positive and is self-isolating at their home outside of Ohio.
Assistant City Manager Jessica Greene said as of Friday morning, none of those testing positive at McCullough-Hyde were Oxford residents, but the numbers are quickly changing.
In a city email of community health updates, Greene said those with minor symptoms were sent home to neighboring communities. Those whose conditions were more serious were sent to another TriHealth facility.
Representatives from TriHealth, the Butler County General Health District and Miami were not immediately available for comment.
