The Miami women's volleyball team returns home this weekend, looking to get back on track in MAC play after suffering two tough losses last weekend in Michigan.
The RedHawks played tough in both matches against Eastern and Central Michigan University, but fell 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. Miami now sits at 7-14 overall, with a 2-6 record in conference play. The 'Hawks are hoping that coming back to the friendly confines of Millett this weekend to host Ball State and Toledo will help them get back on the winning track.
"We played two really good teams last weekend when we were in Michigan," Miami Head Coach Carolyn Condit said. "The MAC is very deep this year, so we will be in for a test no matter what team we are facing. We have spent a lot of time on the road so far this season, so it's good to know that we are coming home and staying here for a couple of weeks. Hopefully being at home will translate into a few wins for us."
While the Red and White have struggled through eight conference games so far this year, there is a lot of time to turn things around. Miami plays five straight matches at Millett before going on the road for three more to round out their season. It will be a challenge to take the top spot in the MAC East by the end of the season, but the young RedHawks are hoping that a few wins during their home stand combined with strong practices will give them the confidence to end their season on a high note.
"This week in practice we are going to work on connections between setters and hitters," junior Amy Raseman said. "We are also going to work on a team effort and bettering each ball.
The match against Ball State is set for 7 p.m. Friday, while the contest against Toledo is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday.
