Miami University and the Miami University Police Department have put out an alert saying, "Oxford Police are searching for a possibly armed male suspect in the area of State Route 732 at Chestnut Street. Avoid that Area." The Oxford Police Department dispatch confirmed that police are still looking for the man who is possibly armed and dangerous. The Miami Student will update as more information becomes available.

Talawanda High School and Middle School are still on modified lockdown on the advice of OPD, according to Holli Morrish, director of communication and public relations at Talwanda High School.

"Shortly after noon the Oxford Police Department advised the middle school to go on lockdown because they were pursuing a suspect," Morrish said.

Classes have continued but the outside doors of the buildings remain locked.

Talawanda High School and Middle School will enact a modified dismissal plan at the end of the day, Morrish said. Instead of the usual dismissal, the school will have four school buses at a time pull up to the front doors to pick up students.

"We will probably have some transportation delays," Morrish said.

This is not the first time Talawanda schools have gone on lockdown. According to Morrish, the schools went on lockdown as a precaution several years ago after an armed bank robbery.
