Sophomore injures self while damaging window
Miami University police were summoned at almost 1 a.m. Saturday morning to Porter Hall regarding damage to the east side door of the hall. On the scene, officers spoke to the hall director who said she heard banging and the sound of glass shattering.
She said she went to the area of disturbance and found a white male wearing a white T-shirt, green shorts and a bandana. She said he was bleeding from his right hand. She also said he ran out of the lobby soon after she talked to him.
Another Miami police officer reportedly found a male matching the description running near Phillips Hall. He was brought to Porter and identified as Miami sophomore Michael Gershenzon, 20.
According to the police reports, Gershenzon smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred. Blood was also reportedly smeared on Gershenzon's shirt. Oxford Life Squad was dispatched for Gershenzon's minor injuries, but he refused treatment.
He also refused to take a portable breath test, but admitted to drinking earlier. Gershenzon was cited for underage intoxication and criminal mischief.
Miami police find intoxicated first-year stumbling on road
Miami police were dispatched at 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning to Bishop Circle to locate a male bleeding from the head. The officer then reportedly noticed a male stumbling in the road who almost fell down.
He was stopped and indentified as Miami first-year Justin Hawk, 18. According to the reports, Hawk was unbalanced and swaying so the officer had him sit on the curb.
Hawk allegedly had a hard time performing field sobriety tests because he continued to move his head. Hawk reportedly admitted to drinking beer and shots of whiskey.
His portable breath test said Hawk had a 0.233 percent blood alcohol content. He reportedly refused medical treatment. Hawk was cited with underage intoxication and transferred to Stanton Hall.
MU female looks for stolen wallet in uptown trash can
Oxford police on patrol at almost 3 a.m. Friday morning on the corner of Campus Avenue and High Street reported a female digging through a trash can who seemed very upset. She identified herself as Miami junior Emily Leece and told officers that around 1 a.m. while dancing at Brick Street Bar, her wallet was stolen.
When she called her own cell phone from a friend's phone, Leece said a female answered. The female on the other end said she heard the cell phone ringing from a trash can. Leece said the female who found the phone was gone by the time she arrived.
Leece also told officers that beside her phone, her wallet contained her driver's license, Miami ID and Visa.
OPD responds to alleged fight at Brick Street Bar
Oxford police on patrol uptown at 1:38 a.m. Friday morning were stopped by a Brick Street Bar employee who asked the officers to stop a male for having fought with a bouncer. The bouncer reportedly pointed out two white males walking south on Poplar Street. One male allegedly gave the officer a fake New York ID as well as an underage Ohio driver's license identifying him as Beachwood, Ohio resident Chad Kertesz, 20.
According to the report, Kertesz smelled strongly of alcohol during the investigation. He was brought back to OPD and charged with possession of a fake ID and underage intoxication. Brick Street allegedly decided to drop the intended charge of criminal trespass.
The report said Kertesz wouldn't confirm his current address, so he was taken to Butler County Jail.
