MU sophomore throws lime at UDF clerk, forgets wallet
At about 5:15 Saturday morning, Oxford Police were dispatched to United Dairy Farmers at 101 West High St. regarding an intoxicated male. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a clerk who stated that a male who entered the store and opened several packages of food before throwing a lime at a clerk. The male was asked to leave, but he allegedly left his wallet on the counter and was later identified by police as Miami University sophomore Ian Nelson-Johnson.
Police located Nelson-Johnson at his residence at 201 W. Collins St. According to the reports, police found Nelson-Johnson passed out on his kitchen floor with a frozen pizza smoking on a stove top burner. After police failed to wake Nelson-Johnson up, Oxford Life Squad was summoned to the scene to check on his reported intoxicated state and he was taken to McCullough-Hyde for evaluation. Nelson-Johnson was cited for underage intoxication and possession of a fake ID.
Oxford resident reports harassing calls from local
Oxford resident Matthew Prater, 20, called Oxford Police Department (OPD) at almost 1 p.m. Saturday to report harassing phone calls made by someone known to him. Prater told police that Oxford resident Christopher Davis, 25, called him six times between 3-4:30 a.m. earlier that morning.
On a message that was played for police, Davis allegedly threatened to cut Prater's throat and harm his family. Davis told officers that he did not threaten Prater, but he did state that Prater stole his Play Station 3 earlier that morning. Davis filed a complaint at 3 a.m. that morning that someone had broken into his apartment and had broken his door handle.
Davis was charged with aggravated menacing. There is an investigation into the claim of the stolen Play Station 3 console.
OPD, MUPD chase Hamilton resident driving intoxicated
Oxford police were dispatched at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday to Brick Street Bar regarding a male who assaulted an employee. When officers arrived, they found Hamilton resident Scott Young, 22, being restrained by staff members who told police Young had been fighting. Employee David Coffey, 20, told officers that Young had elbowed him several times in the head as Coffey was attempting to break up the fight. Young was cited with assault and released from OPD. Young was allegedly warned by officers not to drive home. But Young said he was going to a friend's house on Brown Road. Police offered to give Young a ride but he refused. Officers noted Young's intoxication level as he left the station and watched him walk to North Poplar to a car.
