After Wright State University narrowly edged out the Miami University RedHawks in game one of Tuesday's double header 3-1, senior leader Breanna Robinson made sure she did not let the Raiders come away with the sweep.

Three RBIs in the 5-1 second game win gave Robinson 37 on the year, tying her with Leslie Macedo's single-season record for runs batted. Robinson went 2-for-3 in the game, doubling and hitting her eighth home run of the season.

"When I came up in the first with two outs after (Megan) Mawn singled, I just wanted to see the ball, hit it anywhere," Robinson said. "I just happened to get the perfect pitch."

She got that pitch, and absolutely crushed it over the left field wall to give the 'Hawks an early 2-0 lead.

Robinson is one of five seniors on the team who head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly believe have been the club's heart and soul.

"They're the pulse of team," Schoenly said. "Their leadership really reflects the character of our team and shows they are good people as well."

After Wright State squeezed out a run on pitcher Shalise Lugo in the second, it was Mawn and Robinson who extended the lead even further. With Lindsey Randall on third and two outs in the inning, Mawn drove a line drive single to left to extend the lead to 3-1. Robinson then proceeded to blast a double over the centerfielder's head to further extend the lead to 4-1. Sarah Billstrom continued to add to the growing margin with a single of her own as the 'Hawks finished the second inning with a resounding 5-1 lead.

Robinson showed the utmost modesty after her record-tying day attributing much of her success to the change of philosophy by her team.

"All season we've been putting in the extra work," Robinson said. "Every girl is playing for each other and every girl that comes to us in the future."

The Raiders opened the scoring in game one with a run in the first with a single up the middle and a double to right center.

Miami answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the frame. The game stayed tied until WSU went up for good with a run in the third on three singles. Wright State then tacked on an insurance run in the fifth with a walk, a bunt and a double to right center.

The loss marked the RedHawks' fourth game in a row in which the offense managed to produce only 2 runs or less. The Red and White hope to have put their hitting woes behind them with their breakout of five runs in the nightcap.

The 'Hawks travel to Buffalo, N.Y. Friday for another grueling double header against in conference foe Buffalo University. The series marks the first two of four upcoming road games for Miami, before they return to Oxford for a four-game home stand. With the MAC tournament looming, however, this talented group of young ladies is not about to look ahead.

"From the beginning of the season we've be trying to take it one game at a time," Robinson said. "But as the season wears on every game increases in magnitude and our goal this year is to win the MAC and reach the tournament."
