MUPD cites mud-covered student in parking garage
Miami police responded at almost 3:45 a.m. Friday morning regarding an intoxicated male walking around the inside of the parking garage on South Campus.
Upon arrival, officers located first-year James Huber walking around the third floor of the garage covered in mud and having trouble standing. Huber allegedly smelled strongly of alcohol.
Huber was identified as being 19 years old and had bloodshot and glassy eyes.
Huber reportedly consented to a portable breath test, which registered as a .248 blood alcohol content.
Huber reportedly refused transport to McCullough Hyde Hospital and was transported to the Miami University Police Department.
Huber was cited with underage intoxication and transferred back to his residence at Stanton Hall.
Hitchhiking Miami female receives multiple citations
At about 3 a.m. Saturday morning, Miami police noticed a female hitchhiking on the corner of Spring Street and South Campus Avenue.
When the female noticed the officer, she allegedly went back to the sidewalk.
The officer stopped and approached the female. According to the report, the officer noticed the female smelled strongly of alcohol. She was identified as junior Juliana Ragusa.
The other reporting officer allegedly noticed an open beer in Ragusa's purse.
The officers reportedly found a total of five Budweiser's in Ragusa's purse. She was also reportedly wearing a green wristband.
Once transported back to the station, it was found that Ragusa was in possession of her sister's ID, stating that she was over the age of 21.
Ragusa was cited with underage intoxication, underage possession and public intoxication.
The beer and wristband were reportedly taken to the police station and kept as evidence.
Junior hockey player struck by car during morning jog
Oxford Police Department responded to an accident just past 7 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 concerning a traffic incident with a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to junior Raymond Eichenlaub and graduate student Laura Goley.
According to the report, Eichenlaub was jogging south on Patterson Avenue when he disregarded the crosswalk signal at East Spring Street.
Goley was reportedly driving her Volkswagen Golf east on Spring Street and began to take a left on Patterson Avenue when she struck Eichenlaub.
The report states that there was hard rain, low visibility and the area was not well lit. Goley was cited with failure to yield at a crosswalk.
Eichenlaub was cited with ignoring the pedestrian control signal and transported to McCullough Hyde Hospital for care.
Oxford police cite first-year for underage possession
Oxford police were dispatched at almost 11 p.m. Monday to a noise complaint at 118 Homestead Ave.
When the officer arrived at the back door, he reportedly saw a female holding two red cups.
When the officer knocked, the female reportedly placed a red cup down.
The officer asked for the cup and allegedly found a small amount of beer inside.
She said she was 18 years old, and the officer identified her as first-year Amanda Chen.
She was cited with underage possession.
