Local noise complaint leads to discovery of marijuana

At about 1 a.m. Thursday morning, Oxford police responded to a local resident noise complaint at 215 Foxfire Dr.

Upon arriving on the scene, Oxford police officers could smell burnt marijuana coming from one of the apartments.

After the officer reportedly knocked on the door, a male voice inside the apartment asked who was at the door and the police alerted him of their presence.

After about 60 seconds, Oxford resident Bruce Hesson allegedly answered the door.

The smell of marijuana allegedly came strongly from the apartment once the door had been opened and officers asked if they could perform a search.

A small pipe was reportedly found. Another pipe was also allegedly found between the couch cushions, as well as a baggie of marijuana allegedly found in the closet.

Hesson was charged with drug paraphernalia.

Police find stolen street signs after litter violation

Oxford police were dispatched at 9:15 a.m. Friday morning to 116 W. Church St. regarding a litter complaint.

Upon arrival, officers allegedly found various pieces of trash and beer cans in the lawn and porch area.

A wooden kitchen table was also allegedly found in the yard.

According to the reports, a traffic cone belonging to the city of Oxford was also located on the front of the porch.

When the officer reportedly tried to make contact with one of the residents, he noticed two streets signs within the residence.

The officer returned at 1 p.m. and spoke to Miami University senior Julian Scott who confirmed that he lived at the house.

Scott received citations for litter, outdoor furniture and receiving stolen property.

OPD cites MU sophomore for underage beer purchase

Oxford police received a complaint at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday evening about individuals at 316 S. Poplar St. throwing items off the roof.

When officers arrived, Miami University sophomore Thomas Orr, age 19, was allegedly on the roof of the residence and in possession of Natural Light Beer.

While officers were speaking to Miami sophomore Justin Bauer, age 19, a delivery driver reportedly arrived with a case of Natural Light beer.

Bauer allegedly told the officer that he had ordered the beer and hoped it would be sold to him.

Orr was cited with underage possession and Bauer was cited with attempting to purchase alcohol while being underage.

Miami first-year allegedly urinates on floor of library

Miami University police were dispatched at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning to King Library in response to a report of a highly intoxicated male student.

Upon arrival, the officers found a male passed out on a chair on the first floor.

He was identified as Miami first-year Eric Leopold.

A female witness allegedly identified Leopold as the male that had urinated on the floor of the library.

The Oxford Life Squad was called to the scene because Leopold reportedly had a strong scent of alcohol to him.

Though Leopold refused treatment, his portable breath test reportedly registered at .214 blood alcohol concentration.

He was transported to MUPD and cited with underage intoxication and disorderly conduct. Leopold was then reportedly transferred back to Stanton Hall.
