OPD finds male in bushes, issues multiple citations
Oxford police were dispatched at almost 3 a.m. Tuesday morning to the 100 block of North Campus Avenue regarding a suspicious male.
The caller told police that a white male had possibly been attempting to break into the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house. The caller also told police that the male was looking into the windows.
As the caller and the policeman walked in the area the white male was last seen, the policeman reportedly heard crackling in the bushes. The officer then allegedly pulled Oxford resident Christopher Pittman, 30, from the bushes.
After the officer arrested and placed Pittman in handcuffs, a bag of marijuana and a glass pipe were reportedly located on him. Pittman was also reportedly extremely intoxicated, but it was discovered that Pittman had not entered any residence and no property was damaged. Pittman was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of drugs and possession of paraphernalia.
Undercover operation at CPA results in arrest of MU junior
Oxford's Directed Patrol Unit was informed at almost 9 p.m. Sunday of a student suspected of selling drugs. The officers allegedly set up an undercover operation at the Center for Performing Arts (CPA).
According to the reports, after the transaction was set up, Miami University junior Tyler Frankenfield was arrested for trafficking in drugs because he allegedly sold marijuana to an officer and an unidentified person inside the CPA.
Frankenfield was charged with the felony of drug trafficking.
Local police find marijuana inside Quaker Oats canister
Oxford police executed a search warrant at 10:15 a.m. Monday at 620 S. College Ave. for information regarding drugs. The police reportedly entered the apartment and found Oxford residents Aaron White, 20, and Timothy Payne, 20.
In the back bedroom, officers allegedly found a multicolored smoking bowl and a white smoking bowl. Officers also allegedly found a Quaker Oats canister with marijuana inside and a roach in the back bedroom. Police said a Simpson's lunchbox was also found containing cash. In the kitchen officers reportedly found a scale, more marijuana and a cabinet with a large amount of baggies.
According to the report, the cabinets were bare of food and the only thing in the fridge was a case of beer. The baggies were taken as evidence of drug trafficking. White and Payne were both charges with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. White was additionally charged with drug trafficking.
Resident requests better signage after swan attack
An Oxford resident flagged down Miami University police at almost 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The woman told the officer that minutes earlier her three year-old daughter had been standing at the side of the pond on Western campus.
The woman told the officer that when the swan in the water saw her young daughter, it swam directly at her. According to the report, the swan jumped out of the water and grabbed the toddler's pant leg with its beak. The woman then told officers that the swan knocked her daughter to the ground and jumped on top of her. The woman reportedly grabbed her daughter from under the swan and ran away.
The woman told the officer that the swan then began chasing them. An unknown male subject then chased the swan away from the mother and daughter and back into the pond. Nether required medical attention, however, the woman stated that there should be a bigger sign warning that the swans may be aggressive.
