Stolen gallon of milk results in arrests for Miami females

At around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13-Green Beer Day-Miami University senior Stephanie Mettler was seen by police officers on High Street taking a gallon of milk from a delivery truck outside The U-Shop. When officers attempted to speak to Mettler, she began running west and set the milk down by the entrance of Steinkeller.

According to the reports, Mettler mildly resisted arrest, but she allegedly became belligerent when the officer attempted to place her in the police cruiser. The report states that a friend of Mettler's, senior Julia Richardson, began arguing with the officer defending Mettler's case. Reportedly, the officer told Richardson to stop arguing and walk away three times. Richardson was subsequently placed under arrest for obstructing official business. Mettler was charged with theft of the milk. The stolen property was reportedly retained and turned over to the Oxford Police Department's property officer.


MU males face citations after throwing snowballs

At around 5 p.m. Green Beer Day at 23 East Collins St., OPD officers noticed a group of males in the lawn throwing snowballs at and into a convertible driving south on Poplar Street. When officers approached, the group scattered. Officers reportedly apprehended first-year Gavin Stefanski in an ally by South Poplar. The officer also noticed another subject walking away from him in the ally. He was later identified as sophomore Patrick Kuffel.

Stefanski and Kuffel were both identified as underage and intoxicated. Stefanski was reportedly found to have cold hands. He admitted to throwing snowballs, but not at the convertible. Kuffel reportedly had nothing to do with the incident and stated he was walking down the alley. Stefanski and Kuffel were both found to be in possession of fake ID's and cited. They were also cited for underage intoxication, brought to OPD and released.

Police find Athens visitor trespassing in local home

At 7:15 a.m. Green Beer Day, OPD officers were transported to 25 W. Vine St. regarding an unknown passed out male in the residence. Upon arrival, officers found Athens, Ohio resident James Cornhoff, 23, asleep inside. The report states that Cornhoff was very intoxicated and was very hard to wake up.

When he was awake, Cornhoff was disoriented and thought he was in Athens. According to the report, officers found that he was staying with friends on Campus and Spring streets. When Cornhoff's friends came to OPD to take custody of him, it was found that he had been kicked out of two bars earlier that morning. Cornhoff was cited with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

Canine unit discovers drugs during open container bust

Oxford Police patrolling at about 10:45 p.m. Green Beer Day noticed a male sitting inside a truck with an open can of beer. The officer also reportedly noticed a passenger in the truck with his door open. When the officer approached, he reportedly saw one male throw the can through the truck onto the front lawn of a house on the 400 block of North Poplar Street. He was identified as Travis Michael, 19. His passenger was identified as Andrew Hays, 19.

Both were reportedly visiting Oxford from North Carolina. Hays allegedly smelled strongly of alcohol. Hays and Michael allegedly seemed very nervous to the officer. When the canine unit arrived, the police dog, Dover, reportedly indicated that there was contraband in the vehicle. When police investigated, a baggy of marijuana and a glass pipe were located in the vehicle. Michael was cited with an open container and underage possession. Hays was cited with underage intoxication and drug paraphernalia.
