Sitting down to write my final perspective for The Student, I didn't know what to write. I started talking to friends and roommates, and here's what I came up with. With three and a half years of college behind me, experience at two universities (Miami and the University of Missouri-Columbia) and three months until graduation, this is some of what I have learned in college, in no particular order:

1. College is way more fun than high school.

2. No matter how cold it is outside, there will always be one guy wearing shorts.

3. After a night uptown, no line will be longer than in Bagel & Deli.

4. The Recreational Sports Center will always be busier one week after New Year's and one week before Spring Break.

5. I will always be a writer.

6. Oxford needs a sushi restaurant.

7. Whatever drama happened in high school should stay in high school. After all, that's why it was high school.

8. No matter how much it snows, how bad the weather is or how many other Ohio public universities are already closed, Miami will NEVER close school for a whole day.

9. Parking tickets at Miami are given out like wristbands at Brick Street.

10. Western really is the most beautiful part of campus.

11. I miss the Big 12 football that I got at Mizzou, and I'm still bitter they didn't make a BCS Bowl.

12. Family is more important than anything.

13. Take advantage of Spring Break at least twice while in college. Be sure one of the trips is to somewhere warm. A good tan is essential at least once.

14. Starbucks at King Library is amazing.

15. Bud Light will always be better than Miller Light. (Spoken from a St. Louis girl.)

16. First-years do travel in herds, and I was once one of them.

17. Despite my resistance after high school, I really do love being a journalist.

18. Take advantage of a pedestrian campus while you can because once you leave it, that car isn't going to stop as you cross the street in front of it.

19. Always keep that one high school friend. He or she will be more valuable than you ever expected.

20. Margaritas and beer in one night is a bad idea.

21. I have never seen more couples in one spot than I do at Miami.

22. Road trips with your friends are an amazing experience, but be sure you have sleeping arrangements made before traveling six hours away from school. Unexpectedly paying for a hotel is not the way to go.

I enjoyed reading your list and agree with many of your points. However, as a recent Miami alum (Class of 2005) who is currently in the "real world" I disagree with point #46. (Continued…)
