MU female reports assault from known male subject
Oxford police received a report of an off-campus rape around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon. The report states the 20-year-old Miami University female was assaulted by a subject known to her between at 8 p.m. Friday evening and 9 a.m. Saturday.
Canine unit helps in drug charges to Miami students
Oxford police executed a warrant at Hawks Landing at midnight Thursday morning on a lead of drugs. Once inside, officers reported two males in the living room, later as identified junior William C. Ford and junior Robert Chambers. According to the reports, a marijuana pipe as well as marijuana were scattered on the living room table. Ford was also allegedly found to be in possession of a small bag of marijuana. Senior William B. Banks was also reportedly found in another room in possession of a bag of marijuana. Banks was allegedly found to be in possession of prescription drugs and paraphernalia. Officers investigating another room reported finding junior Justin Perun. Once the canine unit arrived, the dog allegedly found Perun in possession of two Adderall pills in plastic bags. Ford and Chambers were cited with drug paraphernalia and drug abuse. Perun and Banks were charged with possession of prescription drugs. Banks was also charged with drug trafficking. All were brought to Butler County Jail after booking at OPD.
U-turn results in multiple citations for sophomore
At 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Oxford police on patrol reported a vehicle taking a U-turn in the intersection of Church and Poplar streets. The officer reportedly pursued the car as it sped up but pulled over in the alley behind Balcony Bar. According to the reports, the officer could smell alcohol when he approached the vehicle. Reportedly, the driver, sophomore Caitlin Cullman, was "rambling about nothing coherent" to the officer. She also allegedly told the officer that she was on medication. After reportedly performing poorly on field sobriety tests, she was arrested for driving under the influence. Cullman was then transported to McCullough Hyde Hospital but reportedly declined a blood test. She was cited with driving under the influence, underage intoxication and performing an illegal U-turn.
Student taken home after having alcohol at Goggin
At about midnight Friday, Miami police were on patrol at the Goggin Ice Center while students camped out for the hockey game. Officers reported sophomore Kyle Schmitz entering the lobby of the ice rink wearing a large winter coat. Officer identified an open bottle he accidentally spilled on the floor as Schmitz entered the men's bathroom. Reportedly the liquid smelled strongly of alcohol. When officers approached Schmitz, he reportedly also smelled like alcohol. He was allegedly very cooperative and handed over the bottle of rum and Diet Coke. Schmitz's blood alcohol content allegedly read at 0.176 percent. He was cited with underage intoxication and taken home.
MUPD responds to pantless female in Dodds Hall room
Miami police officers were dispatched to Dodds Hall just past 3 a.m. Sunday regarding an unwanted female passed out in a bed. Upon arrival officers spoke to a resident of Dodds who said an unknown female had climbed into a bed. The female was reportedly not wearing any pants. A pair of jeans was allegedly found in the hallway outside of the room. According to the reports, a fire alarm was activated in the residence hall, but the female did not wake up from the noise. She was identified as first-year Jillian L. Schaefer of McBride Hall. Officers reportedly had to ask Schaefer a question two or three times before she answered because she appeared intoxicated. Schaefer was allegedly visiting a male resident of Dodds when she went to the bathroom and got confused. Schaefer was cited for underage intoxication.
