Oxford resident experiences hallucinations, sees 'snakes'

Dylan Stretch, 24, dispatched Oxford police at almost midnight Saturday to his East Chestnut Street residence regarding hallucinations he was experiencing.

Stretch reportedly told dispatch about snakes in his apartment and that he believed he was going to spontaneously burst into flames. Upon arrival, officers reported that Stretch was walking around the apartment talking about smoke coming from his feet and snakes on the floor. According to the reports, officers noticed a machete sitting next to him on a chair in the kitchen.

Upon inspection, officers also allegedly found a K-Bar knife by Stretch's bed and a hatchet on the desk. Officers took the weapons for safe keeping but reported that Stretch made no threats to cause harm to anyone including himself. Stretch reportedly refused treatment by Oxford Life Squad. Stretch's mental state was allegedly improving by the departure of the officers.

Male receives citations for underage drinking, driving

Oxford Police officers on patrol around 2 a.m. Wednesday on South Poplar Street noticed a silver Volvo with a rear license plate out.

After pulling the vehicle over, the officer identified Miami University first-year Jonathan Widell, 19, as the driver. The officer reported that both the driver and passenger had clear X's on their hands, meaning that a bar had marked them underage. When asked where they were coming from, Widell said they were at a bar uptown.

Widell allegedly denied having had anything to drink, but reportedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests. According to the reports, as the officer began placing Widell into the cruiser, Widell stated that he didn't know why he was being arrested. When the officer reportedly replied that he had been drinking underage and driving, Widell replied that he would never drink and drive. At the Oxford Police Department (OPD), Widell declined a Breathalyzer. He was cited with not having a light on his license plate, driving under the influence and underage consumption.

Oxford police respond to report of unpaid taxi fare

A-1 Taxi Service of Middletown dispatched OPD officers to 5032 College Corner Pike regarding an unpaid taxi fare. Once on scene, officers spoke to the driver who had taken an ID from one of two passengers who failed to pay for the ride from Middletown.

Adair Givens, 36, of Hamilton was pictured in the ID, and the driver stated that a female who stated her name was Sandy accompanied Givens. A female matching the description was reportedly located in the area and spoke to the officer. She was identified as Margaret Seta, 36, of Oxford. Seta brought the officer to the apartment that Givens was allegedly staying. Givens allegedly told the officer that he only had half the amount of the $37.10 fare. Seta agreed to pay the other half. According to the reports, when officers searched Givens, they located a burnt marijuana roach and rolling papers. Givens was reportedly wanted for various warrants in Hamilton. He was charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to Hamilton by police. Seta was charged with theft.
