A Miami University Hamilton part-time faculty member is being asked to resign from her position as Butler County Child Services (BCCS) supervisor after teaching at Miami's Hamilton campus while on paid sick leave from the county.
According to Denise Winkler, public relations director at BCCS, employees of Butler County cannot work another job when on paid sick leave from the county.
Michelle Money-Richardson is currently part of Miami Hamilton's temporary faculty teaching on a semester-by-semester basis,
according to Perry Richardson, campus communication officer on Miami's Hamilton campus.
"Her situation there has nothing to do with her teaching here," Richardson said. "Miami Hamilton is not involved in the situation with her full-time job."
According to Richardson, Money-Richardson worked for Miami Hamilton for just a few years.
Richardson said those at Hamilton's campus were not aware she was on paid sick leave from Butler County but that she will continue to teach in the department of family studies and social work.
Butler County Child Services had little to say about the situation.
"We are limited in what we can say about the issue," Winkler said. "Right now she is on administrative leave."
Winkler declined to mention how long Money-Richardson had worked for the BCCS and when she was asked to leave. Winkler also decline to mention whether or not Money-Richardson had known about the policy in place and how the BCCS found out about the situation.
Money-Richardson and Butler County came to a mutual agreement for her resignation, which will become effective early in February, according to Winkler.
"There were no disciplinary actions taken against Ms. Money," Winkler said.
