On a night just before a big snow, the RedHawks were making it rain inside Millett Hall.

The Miami University men's basketball team cruised to an easy 74-58 victory over the Indiana State University Sycamores for its largest margin of victory this season Tuesday night.

The Red and White saw four players score in the double digits, including junior guard Carl Richburg, who set a career high with 13 points. He led Miami's bench, which scored a season high 23 points in support of the starting five.

Coming off a game against the No. 10 ranked Louisville Cardinals in which the 'Hawks shot a miserable 36.7 percent from the floor, Miami was able to spread the ball around much more against the Sycamores, leading to a season high seven different 'Hawks scoring.

"Everyone has been working on their shot after practice," junior forward Michael Bramos said. "We knew coming off Saturday we didn't shoot very well. It was good ball movement by us just to hit everyone, and everyone stepped up to take big shots and made them today."

Indiana State started the game off strong, opening with a 14-4 run. During the stretch Miami hit just two of its nine shots from the field as the team watched most of their attempts rattle off the rim. However, the struggles didn't last long as the 'Hawks proceeded to drain 12 of their next 19 shots while holding ISU to just seven points over the final 12:38 of the first half.

Coming out of the locker room for the second half, the RedHawks found the scoring a bit tougher. After falling behind by as many as 14 points, the Sycamores whittled the Miami lead down to six with nine minutes to play in the game. Implementing a full court press, ISU, like other teams in the past, was able to rattle the RedHawks with a simple change in its defensive scheme.

The Millett faithful, although smaller and quieter than crowds seen earlier this season, became increasingly unsettled as they watched Miami lose its grip on yet another big first half lead.

"We're still not stopping anyone from making baskets," Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles said. "Anyone who wants to can dribble down the lane on us."

Seriously? Indiana STATE is the biggest victory? Xavier is ranked 20th in the nation and Miami won in a close end, from being down by double digits, in a home opener never-the-less. (Continued…)

It's the biggest margin win of the season, dumbass. Why don't you read the article before you make quick judgments.
