Just past 2 a.m. Sunday morning at Brick Street Bar, Oxford Police assisted bar employees with a persistent male. As officers were conducting a bar check to clear out at the end of the night, they noticed a male hassling an employee about reentering the bar.
He reportedly said he left his Halloween costume and other items inside and wanted to retrieve them. The employee and the officer told him that he could come back the next day and claim his belongings. The officer reported coming back minutes later with the same male attempting to gain entrance into the closed bar. He was identified as first-year Armando Ocando. The employee told Ocando to leave, and after persistence, the officer reportedly advised him that if he did continue, he would be arrested. After continued persistence about his belongings, Ocando was placed under arrest and cited for criminal trespassing.
Oxford resident resists OPD assistance at Best Western
Oxford Police were dispatched around 9 a.m. Friday to the Best Western on Sycamore Street regarding a young female who needed a ride home. Once officers arrived, the manager on duty told them that he had found the young female outside, and it appeared that she had slept there all night.
According to the report, when officers spoke to Oxford resident Pamela Miller, 19, she began shouting profanities. As they were in the lobby of the hotel, officers advised her to watch her language in front of the families and children present.
As Miller began to walk away, an officer allegedly grabbed her arm, and she shook free. When she was told that she was under arrest, she reportedly continued to struggle and pull away. Once in the police cruiser, Miller reportedly kicked the windows of the car. She was transported to Butler County Jail and cited with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Male carrying weight lifting bench staggers down street
While parked on the 300 block of N. Bishop St., an Oxford police officer noticed a male staggering down the street carrying a weight lifting bench above his head.
Allegedly, when he was about 30 feet away from the police cruiser, the male dropped the bench and continued staggering. The officer identified him as sophomore Thomas Rosenak. Reportedly Rosenak smelled like alcohol, had slurred speech and had trouble standing. He was cited for underage intoxication.
'Gangster ghost' allegedly spikes female's beverage
A first-year female contacted OPD Saturday afternoon, reporting that she may have been slipped something in her drink the night before. She told officers that she drank a few cans of beer the night before at a party. She said later in the night, a male allegedly dressed as a gangster ghost gave her a mixed drink. She reportedly said she doesn't remember anything after that. She reportedly woke up at 5 a.m. at McCullough Hyde Hospital after being picked up on campus.
Police search for MU student after assault at local hospital
Oxford police are looking for a female Miami University student after an assault incident of two people at McCullough-Hyde Hospital early Sunday morning. Emergency room nurse Cecile Dixon called police after a concerned citizen brought in a highly
intoxicated female.
The citizen, Oxford resident Brent Schroeder, told officers that he saw the intoxicated female stumbling. He asked her if she wanted to go to the hospital for medical attention and she allegedly said yes. While escorting her into the hospital, Schroeder stated that she bit him on the wrist and broke skin. Dixon said the female struck her on the left side of her face. The warrant has been issued for the 22-year-old Miami student.
