In a time where it seems that every major sports headline involves steroids, spying or dog fighting, we tend to overlook those feel good stories that remind us why we even watch sports in the first place.

Whether it's the Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies battling through the impossible and making it into the postseason, or players like the Buffalo Bills' Kevin Everett beginning to walk despite suffering what at one point was a near-fatal injury-good things are happening in the world of sports.

Miami University had its own feel good story Saturday at Yager Stadium. While thousands watched the RedHawks collect their first victory at home in nearly two years, there was a different story unfolding on the field, unknown to most fans.

RedHawk running back Cory Jones found the end zone twice Saturday against the Orange, his first two touchdowns in his five years on the football team.

"I just knew I had to get in the end zone," Jones said. "It was just really exciting for me to finally score."

Jones came to Miami in 2003 where he was redshirted his freshman year, and after failing to get into a game during the 2004 season, Jones was sidelined during the 2005 season with a hamstring injury. Things didn't get better for Jones in 2006 when he injured his labrum in his shoulder, also putting him out for the season.

"(There) were injuries (when) I came back late in the season," Jones said. "But by the time I got back, there was never time for me to play."

Although being on the team roster since 2003, it wasn't until the Cincinnati game Sept. 15 this season when Jones finally got to play in a game. He got his first rush as a RedHawk against the Bearcats, getting stopped for a one-yard loss; he would sit the rest of the game.

Jones got two rushes against Colorado, picking up nine yards, bringing his career total to eight total yards.

Finally against Syracuse with starting running back Austin Sykes unable to get things going, Jones' number was called.
