The cases spanned over the month of August and were reported within about one square mile of Oxford and Hueston Woods by Miami University students, Oxford residents, and high school students alike.
OPD Sgt. Jim Squance urged students to take care of not only themselves but also their possessions.
According to Squance, there was a theft reported Aug. 22 by Oxford resident Stacy Donahoe involving a Coach purse that was stolen from her Ford Explorer. Squance said the purse contained Donahoe's credit cards and an Ohio's driver's license. To help track the cards, her credit card company informed OPD of the locations where someone was attempting to use the card, and it was tracked to the Circle K at 327 W. Spring St.
Squance said that OPD detectives acquired the surveillance tapes and matched the user to a blonde female driving a maroon Cadillac.
OPD then tracked the Cadillac to Island Lake Trailer Park in McGonigle, Ohio, a town about 10 minutes south on U.S. Route 27. Upon entering the trailer park, OPD located the Cadillac while also spotting the blonde female in the passenger seat. She was identified as Emily Renee Seymour, 19, of 4450 Hamilton-Richmond Road.
Seymour was then taken to OPD to be interviewed, Squance said. OPD acquired search warrants of the Cadillac, and as a result, Seymour was charged with receiving stolen property and forgery, which are both felonies, as well as misuse of a credit card, a misdemeanor.
Information from Seymour's interview led to 5032 College Corner Pike, unit 16, where Amanda Albright, 19, lived. Although Squance could not release specific details, he said Albright was found, by the OPD, to be connected to Seymour.
Through a search warrant, detectives discovered more of the reported stolen property from the August car robberies as well as drug paraphernalia. According to the reports, when officers entered the apartment, there was a strong odor of chemicals.

Wow, impressive, I thought the OPD was only trained to give underage drinking tickets. They shouldn't flatter themselves nearly so much for recovering a few purses. (Continued…)
